About Callatra Stables
REGINA BHSAI , SM & HSI Level 1
Like a lot of people I have ridden from a very young age, and at age five I became a member of Tynagh Pony club where we were involved in many aspects of riding and horse management , from there I developed my riding by hunting in the winter and competing in local competitions throughout the year. As I got older my desire to compete increased so I started to compete at bigger shows in both showjumping and then eventing. I was very fortunate that my parents supported my desire and brought me and my siblings to many shows around the country. I was successful at Pony level and represented Ireland at International level on a number of occasions including the European Pony Eventing Championships in Italy in 2005. My interest in pure dressage also increased over the years and I trained and rode one of our home breed geldings Callatra Golden Lad to medium level and was part of U25 team Squad.
Having studied and achieved my BHSAI (teaching exams) I started to manage our home business Callatra Stables in 2007 , For the next 7 years our yard was very busy and I had a good loyal client base. I continued to ride and compete at shows as well as teaching and coaching clients of all levels. I was also involved in the Young Breeders programme , Midlands & Western Dressage, Eventing Ireland Western Region and teaching Equine Students on Teagasc courses.
In early 2014 I was approached with a job offer in USA , and after a lot of consideration I decided to take the job and for the next 5 years I was a home rider /manager and trainer for a Hunter/Jumper Barn in Florida. It was an amazing experience that allowed me to see some of the best riders and shows in the world on a weekly basis, I also learned so much by working along side some great people from vets , to farriers and fellow riders. I meet some amazing people during my time there , some have become very close friends.
In late 2019 I came back to Ireland and decided to get back into the equestrian community here. I feel my experience as a rider and coach and manager both here in Ireland and abroad has given me a huge insight into the equestrian world and allowed me to bring all my knowledge and experience together to offer a high class service at Callatra Stables that will help and support many riders and horses in their individual paths towards their goals.
